South Africa go top of Group C while Rwanda dropped maximum points at home in the 2026 Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup qualification on Friday, Mar. 21, 2025.

South Africa senior men’s national team beat Lesotho 2-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last night.

After a goal-dry first half, Relebogile Mofokeng opened the scoreboard in the 60th minute and Jayden Adams sealed the win in the 64th minute. Lesotho trailed and could not summon the spirit to fight back. They lost an important away match 2-0.

The South Africans now lead their group with 10 points after five games on the trot. Meanwhile Lesotho moved further down from the 4th to the 5th position on the table.

The full crowd in the stadium pushed and inspired the team to get a win, Hugo Broos said after the game. Further, he lamented the waste of an inordinate number of opportunities in front of goal albeit having dominated possession.

In their next games, SA will travel to Benin who drew with Zimbabwe on Thursday night. Benin are 2nd in Group C with eight points.

The Benin-SA game will be held in Ivory Coast at Félix Houphouët-Boigny located in Abidjan on Tuesday. Lesotho will visit Rwanda on the same day at Amahoro Stadium.

Nigeria defeated Rwanda away

Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory against Rwanda in their FIFA World Cup qualifier at Amahoro Stadium in Gasabo district of Rwanda.

Rwanda started the match with much hope but they could not match the strength and stars of the “Super Eagles” [Nigeria].The victory took Nigeria to 4th position with six points in this group. Their next match is up against bottom-of-the-log Zimbabwe at home.
