Kaizer Chiefs Football Club have been enthroned the 2024/2025 Nedbank Cup Champions after a decade-long barren run without silverware.

The newly crowned kings inntown defeated Soweto archrivals 2-1 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, May 10.

Making their intentions crystal clear from the first whistle, Amakhosi [Chiefs] drew first blood with Gastón Sirino strike in the 10the minute from kickoff.

The Buccaneers, however, fought back seven minutes later with Evidence Makgoba goal. Then back to a 1-1 even scoreline, both teams threatened at 4imes to snatch victory.

Then that tournament defining moment came when Yusuf Maart volleyed a wonder goal in the 80 lth minute of the Nedbank Cup final. Chiefs went 2-1 ahead of their crosstown opponents.

With just 10 minutes left in the match and pressure weighing over their shoulders, Pirates tried all they could to find yet another equaliser. Even so, the second goal eluded them.

Ultimately, Kaizer Chiefs ended their 10-year trophyless dry spell at the packed Moses Mabhida Stadium.
