The league race is hotting in the Betway Premiership League of the 2024/2025 season.

Orlando Pirates Football Club could go on top of the standings tonight away to Cape Town City FC at DHL Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town at 19h30.

The Citizens (CT City) are still basking in the glory of beating another Soweto giant, Kaizer FC, 1-0 in a league clash on Sunday, Jan. 5.

Tonight, they meet yet another behemoth from Soweto just three days later. And it promises to be a different ball game altogether since the Buccaneers- their opponents – are in a furious league hunt.

As far as the league table goes, Pirates are sitting second with 27 points after 10 games behind defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC at 30 points perched at the top.

However, the latter have played 11 games so far in the league.The Pirates’ intentions are clear pretty clear. That is, to garner maximum points and keep pace with the log leaders.

On the other hand, the Cape Townians will seek to retain a positive outlook under their new head coach Mushin Ertuğral.

That win was crucial because it placed the Citizens 11th on the log with 14 points post 11 games. They were in their backyard when thet defeated Chiefs and so it will be at home tonight.

Even though Pirates last played their league game in Dec. 29, 2024 seeingnof Magesi FC by 1-0, Pirates will be unfazed the Ertuğral’s inspired new look CT City.
