Right at the back of the Federation of International Football Association break, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) swings back into the fray in South Africa this weekend. There are three league games scheduled on Saturday and one on Sunday as well as next Tuesday. Meanwhile three first-league fixtures set to kick off on Wednesday.

The new domestic league campaign resumes on Saturday Sept. 14, 2024. As witnessed in the previous seasons, there will be no shortage of ecstatic performances from the footballing athletes when they take to the pitch to entertain the lovers of the beautiful game.
New title sponsor
Staying with the theme of new beginnings, the PSL unveiled the new title sponsor, Betway in July 24. It replaced DStv and will run and support the local elite league for the coming three seasons valued at R900 million, the PSL Chairman Irvin Khoza announced.
The former league backer DStv terminated its sponsorship with a year to go on a 5-year deal struct in 2020. This triggered the PSL to search and lure a new partner. Quite obviously, this late scurrying around for the new sponsors caused panic and delayed the start of the season which usually begins in August.
In the end, the online British gambling giant Betway came to the fore. After a few weeks of the domestic league-bone-dry run, its season-long events get underway this Saturday.
Royal AM open league with Cape Town City
Royal AM Football Club (FC) will kick off the Betway Premiership with Cape Town City FC at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday Sept. 14, 2024, at 15h00.
