It took Ollie Watkins late strike to put England through to the 2024 UEFA European Championship final to face Spain on Sunday, July 14.
England beat Netherlands 2-1 last night in the semifinal at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, making it their second back-to-back appearance to challenge for the ultimate throne.
The Dutch drew first blood with Zavi Simons’ 7th minute goal from kickoff. And the English pushed for an equaliser to stay in the game. It was not long before Harry Kane was fouled in the box and a penalty was awarded after a video-assistant-referee referral. Kane converted from the spot-kick 18 minutes into the first half.
The two nations came up with few exchanges in search of a winner to little success. Then England made impactful changes around the 80th minute and brought in Watkins and Cole Palmer. The former found the back of the net right in the 90th minute to seal the victory for the English.
