The European Championship 2024 is reaching its crescendo as the final group-stages matches get under tonight across Germany, the host country.
Wednesday June 26, 2024
Of all the six groups in the UEFA European Championship (Euro) 2024, Group E is the most fascinating one.
All the teams in there are sitting on three (3) points apiece after two fixtures played so far. That means each team has beaten the other and lost a match.
And tonight, they are entering the final matches of the group stages.
In Stuttgart, Ukraine takes on the highly talented Belgium side at MHPArena this evening.
Similarly, Slovakia and Romania will battle for the three (3) maximum points at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt.
Both these Group E fixtures will kick off simultaneously at 18h00.
The teams that emerge tops – 1st and 2nd – qualify to the round of 16 outright. Whereas the country that finishes 3rd will contest for the four (4) spots reserved for the third-place best finishers from the six Euro 2024 groups.
Later on at night the same will apply to the concurrent 21h00 kickoff matches between Georgia and Portugal as well as Czechia and Türkiye.
Although Portugal has already qualified to the knockout phase, the tussle for 2nd and 3rd positions will be in full throttle. As it has ever been since the inception of this tournament, there will be no shortage of drama because all countries still stand a better chance to progress to the next stage.
With all these permutations in full glare, there will be a lot to slug it out for. Therefore, a sheer display looms large.
Tonight
