Netherlands and Netherlands played to a goalless draw in the UEFA European Championship 2024 hosted in Germany.
This Group D second match was featured at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig last night, Friday June 21.
Although both nations took a point home, Netherlands almost snatched a win if it was not for the video-assist- referee (VAR) that denied them a goal.
Therefore, the draw means Netherlands and France are in position one (1) and two (2) with four (4) accumulated points.
Austria eliminated Poland out of EURO 2024
Meanwhile in Berlin, Poland suffered a mighty blow in the same group at Olympiastadion in an earlier match on Friday, June 21.
Austria sunk Poland out of the Euro 2024 by 3-1 to earn their first three (3) points in the tournament in their second game.
Poland’s final game against France will be purely academic while France need a win or draw to advance to the knockout phase.
But a loss by France may spell disaster. Of course, the outcomes of the other fixture will be vital to determine which country qualifies for the second round of matches.
Quite interestly, Austria needs an outright victory to stay in the Euro 2024 competition. A defeat will seal their fate meanwhile a draw or draw opens up a window for advancing depending on the France-Poland match results.
That sets up Group D for a fascinating finish on the final group-stage games.
