Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club (FC) have set a date with Orlando Pirates FC in the Nedbank Cup final.

The Brazilians (Sundowns) beat Stellenbosch FC 2-1 in the semifinal at Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch, Cape Town on Sunday May 05.

Khuluso Mudau’s 11th minute strike gave Sundowns the lead in the first half and Thembinkosi Lorch doubled the lead on the 74th minute.

On the 81st minute, Palace reduced the deficit to bring Stellies [Stellenbosch] back into contention to liven the game up for the final spot in the Nedbank Cup. The 2-1 scoreline sprung some hope for the home side.

However, the intense semifinal game ended with Sundowns defending their lead.

For the record, Pirates knocked Chippa United FC 3-1 on Saturday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

The Nedbank Cup final will be staged at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit,  Mpumalanga, on June 01, 2024.
