The highly awaited penultimate Nedbank Cup semi-final featuring Chippa United against Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch versus Mamelodi Sundowns are coming to a head this weekend.

Chippa United Football Club (FC) face the high-scoring Orlando Pirates FC in the first  Nedbank Cup semifinal at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha today.

This fixture is scheduled to start at 15h00.

Pirates have enjoyed a string of good wins in the league recently. To this end, the Buccaneers [Pirates] trashed AmaZulu FC 4-2 in the quarterfinals.

So, should the defending champions replicate the same performances of late, Chippa United will have serious hurdles to contend with.

To their credit, the Chilli Boys [Chippa] advanced to this stage on a two-goal marging.They defeated TS Galaxy by 2-0, the same score margin as Pirates.

In their uphill encounter this afternoon, Chippa have the benefit of the home backing and will likely make this advantage count.

Pirates’ depth in winning cups can not be ignored. Additionally, they retained the same coach – Jose Riveiro – who made them victors in the same trophy last season.

However, Chppa’ coach Kwanele Kopo is also eying this rare opportunity to take three club all the way and make history.

The winner of this enthralling cup draw will book their berth in the final set for June 01 at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
