Mamelodi Sumdowns Football Club (FC) face Espérance Sportive de Tunis in the second-leg of the Champions League semifinal at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria tonight at 20h00.
Espérance are in a pound position owing to their first-leg 1-0 victory in Tunisia on Saturday April 20, 2024. Should they defend this lead or any draw with goals either side, they will be in the final.
That means for Sundowns to qualify for the final, they need to win by 2-0 or any scoreline with a margin of two goals. This is a tall order because they failed to in their past three Champions League games.
However, tonight they need to pull out all stops and find those elusive goals. One thing for certain, they will have the home support to egg them on.
Even so, the prize and the allure of the final of the biggest club tournament in Africa is grand for ES Tunis to put out a good fight. And they sure will the intimidating crowd far from familiar territory notwithstanding.
Al Ahly host TP Mazembe
In the other second semifinal Al Ahly Sporting Club seek to book their berth in the Champions League final when they welcome Tout Puissant (TP) Mazembe at CairoInternationalStadium in Cairo, Egypt, Friday April 26, 2024.
Al Ahly held Mazembe to a 0-0 draw away in Democratic Republic of Congo six days ago.
Sk tonight there must be a victory regardless of what happens tonight.
But a draw with goals will see TP Mazembe progress to the final. Meanwhile a straight win guarantees Al Ahly a spot in the final.
