Namibian international Peter Shalulile’s goal aided Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club (FC) to defeat TP Mazembe FC in the Champions League at Lucas “Masterpieces “ Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, yesterday. 

The only goal, converted form a penalty spot on the 38th minute, ensured Sundowns finished on top of Group A with 13 points.

Despite going down to the Brazilians(Sundowns), Mazembe accumulated 10 points in their round of Group games, just enough to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The Ravens finished second behind Sundowns and will join Simba (Group B), ES Tunis (Group C), and Young Africans (Group D) among the runners-up.

ASEC Mimosas finished top of Group B, as did Petro de Luanda in Group  C and AL Ahly FC in Group D.

The four top finishers will avoid each other in the last-eight elimination round.
