Cameroon pulled through to progress to the knockout stages of the African Cup of Nations in a 5-goal thriller held in Ivory Coast on Tuesday night.

The Indomitable Lions [Cameroon] defeated Gambia 3-2 in an intense Group C fixture at Bouaké Stadium in Bouaké. 

In the other corresponding match, Senegal denied Guinea’s automatic qualification by beating them 2-0 at Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro yesterday. Thus, solidifying their lead with nine points in Group C.

Cameroon’s win pushed them to the second spot in the group because of a better goal difference, handing them an outright berth in the last 16.

Although Guinea ended third with four points,  they stand a better chance to progress among the best four finishers.

GroupD: Mauritania 🇲🇷 1-0 🇩🇿 Algeria

Group D: Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 0-2  🇦🇴 Angola

Angola finished on top of Group D with seven points while Burkina Faso came second with four points despite their loss in Yamoussoukro  last night. Both countries progress outright.

However,  Mauritania will contest for one of the four remaining spots for the best finisher with their three points earned after stealing Algeria’s out of the tournament in Bouaké  on Tuesday night.
