Battlelines drawn in SA-Tunisia fight for AFCON 2023 knockout Qualification

The Group E and F final standings will be decided tonight in the final fixtures that will determine all teams for the African Cup of Nations round of 16.

Africa’s North-South battle of the knockout stage of the African Cup of 2023 draws to a close tonight.

South Africa (SA) will face Tunisia in Group E at Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo tonight at 19h00.

Playing simultaneously in the same group, Mali clash with Namibia at Stade de San Pédro in Yacuíba, Ivory Coast.

As it stands, Mali leads the group with four points, and lying second and third are South and Namibia with three points apiece. Tunisia are at the bottom with a point.

Although they do not have equal chances, all teams in this group can still qualify for the next round of the AFCON 2023 competition.

What is clear though is that Tunisia need a win to progress to the knockout out stage. Indeed, subject to what happens in the Namibia-Mali game. 

A loss or draw for them sinks them out of the tournament straight.

Over and above these automatic qualifications, there are four spots for the best finishers in this tournament.

Zambia 🇿🇲 vs 🇲🇦 Morocco at Stade de San Pédro (Yacuíba) – 22h00

Tanzania 🇹🇿 vs 🇨🇩 DR Congo at Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium (Korhogo) – 22h00
