The group stages of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 are drawing to a close. But the tournament will continue with the knockout installment of Africa’s premium showpiece in the land.
Tonight, there are two fixtures that will play concurrently at 19h00 in Group A.
Côde d’Ivoire are facing the stubborn Equatorial Guinea team in a Group A duel at Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé in their home turn as hosts.
In the other corresponding fixture, Nigeria face Guinea-Bissau at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
Third in their group, the Ivorians must play for a win to remove any doubt of proceeding to the next round of the tournament. They have three points from their first win.
Meanwhile Nigeria top this group with four points and second is Equatorial Guinea with the same jumper of points as the former.
The two countries that emerge on top, that is position one ans two respectively, progress automatically to the knockout stage.
Group B final-match fixtures
Similarly, Group B has two matches that will kickoff at the same time toniggt at 22h00.
Ghana and Mozambique, both with one point apiece, will fight it out to secure a next round berth at Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Whereas Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny will host the Egypt-Cape Verde affair in Abidjan. For their part, Cape Verde have already qualified with six points from their two fixtures.
However, Egypt occupy the second spot with two points before tonight’s showdown.
Additionally, there are four spaces reserved for the teams that finish in third place with more points.
