Côde d’Ivoire failed to be the first team to book its place in the knockout stages of the African Cup of Nations 2023 when they faltered in the face of Nigeria (The Super Eagles) on Thursday.

Played at the packed and boisterous Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé in Abidjan, Nigeria delivered against all odds.

Their solitary strike to goal arose from a penalty conversion by William Troost-Ekong in the 55th minute of the game.

The hosts deployed all their arsenal to eke out some positive outcome but The Super Eagles their hard-fought goal.
