The 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions begin their defense against Gambia at Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côde d’Ivoire at 16h00.

It is a Group Group C encounter that will later shape up when Cameroon and Guinea start their quest to AFCON 2023. Their kickoff will take place at the same venue three hours from the early draw.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe said this AFCON edition hosted in Côde d’Ivoire/Ivory Coast will be one to remember. Evidently, there are interesting results among them the Cape Verde win over Ghana last in Abidjan.

Surely, Senegal will be very watchful against their opponents this afternoon.  Boosting star-talisman Sadio Mane, they should be at home with a win.

However, the Gambians are not in Ivory Coast to add junkers but compete. A great game lies ahead in prospect.
