In yet another big DStv Premiership League fixture in the 2023/2024 season, Kaiser Chiefs Football Club (FC) meet Orlando Pirates FC at FNB Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg.
Kick off is at 15h30 (SAT).
Chiefs lay 7th on the log after 11 games which brought them an uninspiring 14 points. Meanwhile Pirates accumulated 12 points from nine (9) games, placing them 10th on the table.
Regarding matches won, Amakhosi [Chiefs] managed merely four and the Buccaneers [Pirates] just three. It is evident that both clubs are not doing well in this league campaign by their old standards.
Having said that, this clash of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) titans is one of the oldest rivalries in South Africa and, most certainly, in the world.
Well-known as the Soweto derby, whenever the duo came face-to-face some years back, there was an unexplainable buzz about them.
However, most sports fanatics argue that it is no longer the case. They contend that this age-old contest has lost its spark. The quality of football displayed has deteriorated in recent years.
Be that as it may, fans expect their teams to live up to their billing when they confront each other in front of the 94-seater venue. Today it will be no different as far as spectators’ anticipation goes. They will descend to the FNB stadium in droves expecting them to deliver what the two are capable of.
