Bafana Bafana, the South Africa (SA) senior national football team, qualified for the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
SA beat Liberia 2-1 away last night at Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Stadium in the capital city Monrovia.
The win came as a relief for head coach Hugo Broos’ troops after surrendering a 2-goal at home last Friday, Mar. 24 where the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
But yesterday it was a difficult Bafana Bafana altogether with Zakhele Lephasa who fired the first Salvo on the 19th minute. However, William Jebor restored parity for Liberian in the 35th minute.
In the 53rd minute, Mihlali Mayambela returned SA to the pound seat. The AFCON qualifying match ended 2-1 placing Bafana Bafana 2nd behind Morocco on six points from their two fixtures in Group K.
South Africa lost to Morocco last June and will face-off again in their final encounter. So far, they managed to collect four points from their matches against Liberia.
