England trashed Senegal 3-0 in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup knocked out round at Al Bayt Stadium inAl Khor Sunday night.
Senegal showed promise at the early stages of the game but England’s first goal against the run of play took the wind off their sails. When the tables turned, England accelerated their onslaught and ultimately won the tie convincingly.
The English are through to the quarterfinals thanks to Jordan Henderson (38′), Harry Kane (45+3′) and Bukayo Saka (57′) strikes. With their talisman team captain Sadio Mane who assisted them to qualify unavailable the entire tournament, Senegal were outplayed in all respects.
France 3-1 Poland
In the evening’s last 16 fixture, France eliminated Poland by 3-1 at Al Thumama in Doha.
Olivier Giroud opened the French goals in the 44th minute before Kylian Mbappe’s brace (74′, 90+1′) increased the lead to three. Poland got a consolation through Robert Lewandowski penalty conversion (90+9′) to end the game on 3-1.
England will face France in the quarterfinal at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor on Saturday Dec. 10 at 21h00.
