Argentina beat Poland 2-0 in the last World Cup match in the group stages at Stadium 974 in Doha Wednesday night despite a penalty miss by the team captain Lionel Messi.

Poland too progressed notwithstanding a loss because of a better goal difference to that of Mexico in Group C.

Played at concurrently with the Argentina and Poland clash, Mexico beat Soudi Arabia 2-1 Lusail Stadium Lusail to finish 3rd in the group. While Argentina topped the group with six points, Poland and Mexico ended 2nd and 3rd equal with four points respectively.

Saudi Arabia is out of the World Cup staged in Qatar even after defeating Argentina in the opening match.

In the next round of the knockout stage, Argentina will play Australia on Saturday Dec. 3 at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan. Meanwhile Poland will face World Cup champions France on Sunday Dec. 4 at Al-Thumama Stadium in Doha at 17h00.
