Chippa United FC pulled a 2-1 away against AmaZulu FC in the DStv Premiership at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Roscoe Pietersen’s 7th minute strike and Azola Matrose’s on the 43rd secured the Chilli Boys a rare victory in the first half.
Usuthu launched their fierce attacks to claw back to the game which slipped away every minute they tried. It was only in the 92nd minute Veluyeke Zulu managed to halve the deficit but it was too little too late.
On Thursday, the Chilli Boys’ head coach Diane Klate was fired six games in the new season. He had only one win under his belt. Yesterday they showed up in the match with members of the remaining technical team and management lead Morgan Mammila in charge.
Chippa were at the base of the log and hopped a few places to 13th with 8 points from their two victories after eight games in the 2022/2023 league season.
For Usuthu yesterday’s loss was the second in the 2nd in this campaign. They dropped one place to 5th in the league standings with 11 points from their seven fixtures played so far.
