Just six days ago the two Pretoria flagship clubs were at each other’s throats in a cup competition. It was a Tshwane derby that was very much one-sided where Mamelodi Sundowns FC shot the lights out of their arch-nemesis SuperSport United FC. The scoreline was 2-0 in favour of the former.

Today they cross paths once again but this time they do so in the DStv Premiership League contest where three points are at stake.

This derby will be held at Lucas “Masterpieces” Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria.

Meanwhile SuperSport have a lot to prove arising from the past Sunday, the Brazilians are the defending champions as holders of the 2021/2022 season.

Both clubs have played only five games this (2022/2023) season. Sundowns have lost one, drawn one and won three, giving them a 10-point tally. They are a point behind Orlando Pirates FC on top of the log. Pirates have played one more game.

On the contrary, Matsatsantsa-a-Pitori have accumulated five points from two draws and one win. They are the host tonight.
