Kaizer Chiefs Football Club) FC) are back on the road yet again. On Tuesday they traveled to Cape Town and today they trace that journey back there once more.

They face Stellenbosch FC in the 3rd quarterfinals of the MTN Top8 Cup at Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch, Cape Town, at 15h00.

The MTN8 is a knockout cup competition in which the triumphant team progresses to the semi-finals. AmaZulu FC and Orlando Pirates FC have already secured their berths on Saturday in this one-victor takes all challenge.

Stellies [Stellenbosch] suffer a brutal loss in their midweek league fixture. So did Amakhosi [Chiefs]. 

If midweek games are any guidance, neither team could have wished for a more winnable tie. They are meeting with bruised egos and thus, their prospects are even balanced.

Additionally, Kaizer Chiefs are a big team which is very much under construction. This is so in view of their previous seasons’ performances and their recent league games in the 2022/2023 new campaign have provided sufficient evidence.

On the contrary, Stellies are relatively a new club in the premier division and minnows by comparison.

Having said so, cup games are totally different from the league marathon. For a team just needs to channel its energies and motivation on one game at a time and the rest will come later.

It will be negligent for Stellenbosch to approach this afternoon’s with a lackadaisical mindset arising from Amakhosi’s ambivalent performances recently; not only that but also the past seasons.

Similarly, Chiefs will be ill-informed to perceive their opponents as underdogs owing to their pedigree in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

All in all, the Stellies-Amakhosi clash should make for an intriguing duel down in Cape Town.
