Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club (FC) are back to winning ways and doing it in style.

It took just two minutes for Sundowns to give their visitors Stellenbosch FC a rude welcome at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria Wednesday night.

Neo Maema opened the 3-goal rout with a low rightfoot drive in the near post in their DStv Premiership League match against Stellies [Stellenbosch]. Just four minutes (41′) before halftime, last season’s leading goal scorer Peter Shalulile gave the Brazilians [Sundowns] a 2-0 lead.

Stellies did not have a solution to stop the avalanche of goals about to be unleashed on them. They set back and absorbed the pressure with sporadic counter attack towards Sundowns goals.

In the 71st minute, Marcelo Allende put the game to bed with his goal which took the tally to 3-0 on his debut. The floodgates closed and the game ended with the host banking three points,  taking them to second with 10 points on the log behind Orlando Pirates FC.

Pirates have accumulated 11 points in their six games and have played one more game when compared to Sundowns in the 2022/2023 league campaign.
