A 10-man Kaizer Chiefs Football Club (FC) overcame Richards Bay United in the DStv Premiership League at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
After a colossal loss to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC over the past weekend, it seemed the odds were stacked against Chiefs when Yusuf Maart was sent off on the 31st minute in the first half last night.
However, they managed to ride over the one-man-short storm and prevailed against the league newcomers Richards Bay.
At some point the game appeared to be headed for a draw until Richards Bay United defender bungled a Chiefs attacker in the box. The match official pointed to the spot in front of a sold-out attendance.
The hosts dispatched Dillan Solomons to ensure them the maximum (three) points with one goal lead converted on the 62nd minute from the penalty spot.
This was the first loss for Richards Bay in their four games in the Premiership League. They have two wins and a draw under their name posting a weighty 7 points.
Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs earned their 2nd win of the 2022/2023 season with the equal number of losses and accumulated 6 points so far.
