Seven games before the end of the 2021/2022 Dstv Premiership League season and 23 games on the helm, Kaizer Chiefs Football Club axed Stewart Baxter outright on Thursday April 21.

Chiefs posted that both parties parted ways amicably albeit the termination of Baxter’s contract. Looking at the season penned out so far, poor performance of the senior club seems to be the trigger of axing the head coach. In the intervening period, Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard, who were Baxter’s assistants, will take over the reins immediately.

The club is on position four on the log with 39 points for 27 league fixtures this season as the Englishman exits the Kaizer Chiefs hot seat. They trail log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns FC by 18 points as the league draws to the end of the campaign.
