The past Dstv Premiership weekend had some unbelievable outcomes for Royal AM, Baroka Football Club (FC) and Maritzburg United among others.
Of all these winners, the Soweto derby that usually divides fans saw Kaizer Chiefs FC get the better of Orlando Pirates. Played at the historic Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Chiefs cruised to a hardfought 2-1 victory in Soweto.
Reeve Frosler gave the visitors the lead with an impressive long-range strike in the first half. Trailing in home turf, Kwame Peprah put the Buccaneers (Pirates) back in the game with a timely equalizer just after the break. The decisive killer punch was delivered by the towering Eric Matoho thumping header from a Keagan Dolly in-swing corner kick.
The Amakhosi (Chiefs) win increased their points tally to 35 in 19 league games and secured them 3rd spot on the log. Royal AM are 2nd with 36 accumulated points in 21 fixtures.
Mamelodi Sundowns FC stumbled away to Maritzburg. Their 23 league games still show a stretch away from the chaser sitting on top of the table with a commanding 51 points.
