South African Police Service (SAPS) members have killed 8 robbers and foiled an imminent robbery in Rosettenville, south of Johannesburg on Monday.

The police also reported that 8 accomplices were injured in the confrontation while others are still at large.

Gauteng Police Commissioner Elias Mawela said they had been hot on the heels of these dangerous criminals for a week. Although the robbers were armed to the teeth with AK47s, the police pounced on them today before they executed a cash-in-transit heist. Their automatic ammunition was confiscated with five stolen cars in the dirty scheme.

It was also confirmed that these suspects were from KwaZulu-Natal, Zimbabwe and one a Botswana citizen.

The successful foiled mission carried out by the SAPS comes a few days after the Minister Bheki Cele released an annual crime report that shows an criminal acts are still high.
