Actor extraordinaire and film director Patrick Shai died on Saturday Jan. 22, in Dobsonville, one of the sub-townships in Soweto, Johannesburg.

According to Newzroom Afrika, the family confirmed his tragic death.

Dispite allegations that he committed suicide in his Dobsonville home, the circumstances of his passing are not yet fully known.

Shai starred in Soul City, a popular South African drama and a trendy soapie – Generations.
