All those long-winded trips through Africa have to come to this – the Champions League (CL) final – today.

Kaizer Chiefs Football Club (FC) are locking horns with Al Ahly Sporting Club (SC) in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) top honors at Complexe Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco. 

The match will begin at 21:00 South African time.

Bucking the laborious double-legged trend, this epic final in particular will be a once-off event.

While Chiefs are one of the big and well-established clubs in South Africa, the Egyptian giants (Al Ahly) are the most accomplished club in Africa.

Notably, should Kaizer Chiefs go on to win this CAF CL, they will become the second club from South Africa. Orlando Pirates FC were the first team to win it in 1995 and Mamelodi Sundowns FC in 2016, more than two decades later.

On the other hand, Al Ahly are the defending champions and have won it record-nine times. They face an unpredictable Kaizer Chiefs. In the mix, they are coached by a South African, Pitso Mosimane, who is looking for his second CL trophy with this club. Interestingly, Mosimane was in charge of Sundowns in 2016 when they clinched it.
