Former South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Chief executive Officer (CEO) Peter Matlare passed away on Sunday due to “Covid-19 related complications”, according to eNCA.
Matlare, 61, is well-known for running some of South Africa’s flagship companies. He worked for, among other companies, Prime Media and Tiger Brands, the biggest manufacturer of consumer goods in Africa. The star-technocrat was in the Absa employ as the Deputy Group Chief Executive and Chief Executive: Absa Regional Operations.
In his line of duty at the SABC, Matlare came across the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman Irvine Khoza who had this to say on its [PSL] website:
“To me Peter Matlhare is the active citizen and patriot that you never needed to ask to do what is right for the nation and the people.”
