The four DStv Premiership League fixtures set for Tuesday evening produced a 100% winning outcome – four clubs won: Pirates, Galaxy, AmaZulu and Maritzburg. A rarity.

Swallows FC went into their 17th DStv Premiership League match against TS Galaxy FC without a loss since the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign.

However, Galaxy had other ideas against their guests at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening. They downed The Birds [Swallows] 2-1 in an exhilarating encounter in Mpumalanga.

Still on 30 points, Swallows dropped one place from the league standings to 4th. The unbeaten joyride  has come to an end. The only team left undefeated at this juncture is Mamelodi Sundowns FC topping the log with 36 points after 16 games. 

Meanwhile in Soweto Orlando Pirates moved a notch up on the table after pushing aside a 10-man Bloemfontein Celtic FC by a thin 1-0 score at Orlando Stadium. Pirates are now 3rd with 32 points on the trot, four (points) adrift of the log leaders. 

SuperSport United FC remain 2nd on 33 points after going down to the high-flying AmaZulu FC in Durban. The former lie 6th on 28 points after 18 games paid so far. On the other hand, SuperSport have gone through 19 league games this season.

And they host the unsuspecting TS Galaxy on Friday Mar. 5 in Pretoria. SuperSport should beware the lightning strike that befell the high-performing Swallows.

Trying their utmost to avoid the drop, Maritzburg United FC sunk Black Leopards FC 1-0 at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday. Although both teams are equal on 12 points, Leopards guard the base of the league on lower goal difference.

Maritzburg’s next league encounter is an away game to the wounded Celtic in Bloemfontein on Saturday, Mar. 6.
