The United States of America (US/A) embarks on an unprecedented inauguration of President-elect Joseph “Joe” Biden into the White House in Washington, DC on Jan. 20, 2021.

Biden and Kamala Harris, his running mate, won the USA elections by huge majority last November. Harris is the first woman to ascend the highest office in American soil.

Washington, as many states are, is a fortress under scrutiny and protection by the national guards.

Former US President Donald Trump bode his farewell from the White House under an enormous cloud on inciting insurrection. The pandemonium that the mod caused at Capitol Hill, stressed Republican leader Mitch McConnell, was “provoked” by Trump.

CNN reported that Trump’s failure to attend the Biden installation as the 46th USA President dates back to 1869. The four ambivalent years of Donald Trump presidency comes to a grind halt today. And for the controversial 45th USA President, it ends with a whimper as he exits the majestic White House silently. He leaves after one-term, joining a thin queue of President who stayed in the White House for four years.

He did not concede losing the elections to Biden. Neither is Trump going to attend the inauguration of his successor, a break with the USA age-old tradition. In contrast, his Vice President Mike Pence decided to forgo Trump’s farewell event. Instead, he will be at the Biden inauguration.

Moreover, the Biden installation to the USA presidency will be graced by former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Trump leaves behind a trail of destruction for the Biden incoming administration. Not least the rising debt and economic fallout brought to bear by Covid-19, but also the division within the country after the outgoing Trump’s claims that the 2020 elections were stolen away from him.

As of yesterday, the most richest country in the world registered over 400, 000 Covid-19 deaths, a record on its own right since the outbreak of the fatal pandemic.
