For the 10th time, Orlando Pirates were crowned the MTN8 Cup champions on Saturday evening, Dec. 12.
The Soweto giant, Pirates, came from a one-goal down to beat Bloemfontein Celtic at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
With the Siphelele Luthuli goal within the first 5 minutes from kick off, Celtic threatened very much and could have easily increased their lead.
But Pirates turned the game on its head when Deon Hotto evened the scores on the 32nd minute of the first half. The MTN8 final match went on the break with both teams 1-goal apiece.
Celtic found themselves reduced to 10 men when Ronald Pfumbidzai was sent off through a red card. Pirates piled on pressure and, on the 53rd minute, they were rewarded with the 2nd of the game. Thembinkosi Lorch who substituted the injured Thabang Monare blasted home the winner for Pirates. Deflated, Celtic were done.
