The final match to decide the 2020/21 MTN8 trophy champions between Bloemfontein Celtic Orlando Pirates is upon us.

Moses Mabhida Stadium will play host to this minnow-versus-giant draw starting at 18h00 on Saturday, Dec. 12 in Durban.

Path to the final

En route to the final, Sewelele [Celtic] defeated last season’s winners, SuperSport United in the semifinals. Before that eventful win, they bulldozed and kicked to the kerb the all mighty Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarterfinals.

In the same vein, the Buccaneers [Pirates] hammered Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs in semifinals after brushing aside Cape Town City in the quarterfinals.

Finding the net

Of the (two) finalists, Orlando Pirates have scored six goals this far in the MTN8 Cup meanwhile Bloemfontein Celtic netted on three occasions.

Pirates have rattled the net twice as much in comparison to Celtic. Seen from this angle, there is little doubt that The Buccaneers are big scorers and are yet to concede in this cup after three matches. Contrary, Sewelele have scored less (goals) and conceded one. Like Pirates, them too, have defended well in this tournament, the 2020/21 MTN8 Cup edition.

For a record, Celtic will be all out this evening to claim their first MTN8 silverware ever. On the other side, Pirates will be foraging for their 10th title in the same competition.
