Kaizer Chiefs will be in a hunt for a second win of the DStv Premiership League season when they visit Swallows FC in Dobsonville.

Swallows will play Chiefs in home territory at Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto Tuesday night.

This league clash starts at 19:30. At stake are three (maximum) points for a win or a point apiece for a stalemate.

On the weight of the game, Swallows face a toughest of battle against Chiefs to keep their good form since their return to top-flight football from the doldrums. Cast in oblivion since 2015, they have made an audacious come back as they lay second on the log behind Mamelodi Sundowns perched atop.

From the 2020/21 season starting blocks, Swallows have made an unwavering statement not to descend but stay aloft with the perennial contenders in the elite league. How much of this momentum is hot air will be measured when the season wraps up. But for now, they seem intently up for ferocious contests. With two wins, two draws, eight points and no loss so far, they are.

Although their rivals [Kaizer Chiefs] have not had the worst of starts to the new season, neither have they come out smoking, guns blazing. To be fair, their performances have been rather lukewarm. It is here that, perhaps, Swallows may feel that they have a claim to get something out of this league duel tonight.

Chiefs are looking to get going with a win and make up for the gap to catch up with the early runners on the table. From their four games so far, they managed only a win and two draws which put them 11th on the standings, not a familiar position by their reputation.

Then again, that has been the nature of things in the evolution of domestic football seen in recent memory. Though a draw will be fair result, this encounter can go either way tonight.
