Mhlongo dying minutes goal fires Swallows to pole position against Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a second defeat of the season away to Swallows FC at Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday night.

The only goal of the DStv Premiership League match came through Joseph Mhlongo profiting from a Lebohang Mokoena cross five minutes before the final whistle.

Gavin Hunt said after the match that he was disappointed. There was not much the whole night but Swallowed used their opportunity, he stressed.

A dream start to the new season is shaping to one of the oldest clubs in Premier Soccer League after fives off the major league in domestic football.

To this resurgence, Swallows coach Brandon Truter said that they dominated and kept piling pressure on Chiefs until it paid off. He cautioned that they are taking one game at a time as they plod forward to the next.

Swallows temporarily go on top of the league standings with 11 points after five games. Trailing them are Mamelodi Sundowns with 10 points, followed by Orlando Pirates on eight points.

The pair will be in action on Saturday, November 28. Sundowns will welcome Stellenbosch FC and Pirates play at home against Baroka FC.
