Deputy Auditor-General (AG) Tsakani Maluleke has emerged as the preferred candidate ahead of everyone who was interviewed for the top job.

A Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee that was tasked with finding a replacement for the outgoing AG Kimi Makwetu by interviewing various applicants, hipped praises on her credencials and vast experience in recommending her for this post.

With a unanimous concurrence of SA parliamentarians, Ms Maluleke will become the first female appointee to head the highest office of government audits as the Auditor-in-Chief.

The tenure of the current incumbent, Makwetu ends in November. And Ms Maluleke, who outshone six (6) Interviewees, will take charge of the reins forthwith.

With the intimate knowledge of one of the Chapter 9 institutions in the land and its intricate systems, it was going to be very difficult to overlook phenomenal Chartered Accountant (CA). She was the ideal personnel among the potential nominees to become the next AG of South Africa.

Her career spans over 20 years in both the public and the private sector, according South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) to which she is a “non-exclusive Board Chairman”.
