A 10-man England stumbled at home on Thursday night in the UEFA Nations League (UNL). Meanwhile Portugal cruised to an emphatic victory in Lisbon. So were Belgium and France who emerged triumphant.

England suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Denmark in the UNL at Wembley in London.
It was not the ideal of starts for England after they lost the team’s captain Harry Maguire 31 minutes into the first half. He was shown a straight red card after a reckless tackle and had to leave the pitch for an early shower.
Reduced to 10 men, Denmark took advantage through a penalty which Christian Eriksen slotted in the back of the net effortlessly.

In a highly intense encounter, Croatia lost at home to the holding “World Champions” France by a 2-1 scoreline at Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb.
Meanwhile Belgium won 2-1 away to Iceland in Laugardalsvollur Stadium in Reykjavik, Iceland.
In Lisbon, Portugal had the easiest of the nights in home turf by putting Sweden to the sword. The Swedes capitulation resulted in 3-0 drubbing at Jose Alvalade Stadium in Portugal.
This resounding victory came without the team captain and talisman Christiano Ronaldo who tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. However, his team mates were cleared of the virus which has been on a global rampage. Ronaldo is in a Covid-19 induced isolation as required by the health regulations.
