The two police officers who allegedly shot and killed a 16-year teenager Nathaniel Julies in Eldorado Park, south of Johannesburg, have been taken to custody.

Julies lost his life at the hands of law and order enforcers on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020. He was suffering from down-syndrome, a medical condition that seemed to have fueled the community’s rage.

Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Julies’ father Mike Harris said that the deliberate shooting of his defenseless son is very painful. “I think we have no law; we have criminals,” stressed Harris.

The father and the community want reform at Eldorado Park police station.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate, an oversight branch of the South African Police Service, arrested their implicated members Friday night for the death of Julies.

The two cops are facing murder and defeating the ends of justice charges. They are scheduled to appear at Protea Magistrate court in Soweto on Monday, Aug. 31.
