The Minister of Employment and Labour Minister Thembelani ‘Thulas’ Nxesi has been admitted to hospital on Monday night, according to The Presidency.

His hospitalisation follows medics’ advice after he tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, July 17. Until Monday, the Minister has been self-isolating and working from home.

Minerals Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe was also admitted to hospital on Monday in order to get better medical attention and monitoring. His novel coronavirus results came positive on Thursday, July 16.

Jackson Mthembu, Minister in the Presidency, said:

“We wish both Minister Nxesi and Minister Mantashe well and a speedy recovery.”
