The Minister of Unemployment and Labour Thulas Nxesi tested positive for novel coronavirus upon receiving his results on Friday, July 17.
Nxesi is in self-isolation; thus, he will work from the comfort of his home. He joins a string of government Ministers and provincial Premiers who have contracted the disease.
In the meantime, Covid-19 continues to increase tragically in speed and afflictions in the South African populace.
As a consequence, today’s confirmed total number of Covid-19 infections rose from Thursday’s 324, 221 to 333, 594.
A whopping one-third (⅓) of these cases are under Gauteng records – a burdensome 35,55%).
Meanwhile, deaths went up from 4, 669 to 4, 804.
Of these lost lives to the severe pandemic, more than half (53,08%) were reported in the West Cape.
