Brazil President Bolsonaro contracts Covid-19

Coronavirus denialist Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil, has tested positive for the deadly pandemic.

For weeks on end, Bolsonaro hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons while the soaring virus was terrorizing Brazilians on a larger scale. He ignored common health precautions.

It took a court order to compel the President to wear a face covering or mask in public.

Writing for CNN on June 24. 2020, Rodrigo Pedroso and Larry Register reported that:

Federal Judge Renato Borelli issued a decision Monday, saying Bolsonaro must wear a mask when circulating in public in Brasilia. The judge’s order said failure to do so could potentially lead to a fine of up around $386 per day.”

Bolsonaro began to feel ill on Sunday and it got worse on Monday, Al Jazeera reported. On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Bolsonaro confirmed that, indeed, he has contracted Covid-19 after diagnosis results.

As one of the most populous countries in the Americas, Brazil has recorded 65, 487 deaths and 1, 623, 284 cases to date as published by Johns Hopkins. It is the second-worst affected country behind the United States.

To what has been seen as unreasonable for an incumbent President, he was reluctant to observe safety measures that the World Health Organisation announced on a continuous bases.

According to Johns Hopkins, the global count for Covid-19 infections are 11, 662, 574 and 539, 058 deaths.
