Mr. Mike Mokoena, the Chairperson of Free State (FS) Stars Football Club (FC), has passed away. 

The sad death of Mr. Mokoena was confirmed on a media statement released Wednesday June 17, 2020 by Dr. Irvin Khoza, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman.

Dr Khoza, who label Mr. Mokoena as one of the founding fathers of the NSL (National Soccer League), eulogized him:

“He shined a spotlight on a little known town in South Africa. He literally put Qwa Qwa and the town of Bethlehem on the map. The economic activity generated by Free State Stars in that part of our country is a powerful legacy of a passionate man… Mike Mokoena, through his toil, left this world a better place than he found it.”

FS Stars, having yoyoed between the elite league and the second division, are 6th on the latter, the GladAfrica Championship legue.
