Polokwane City sprung back from a goal down in the Limpopo derby to defeat Black Leopards 2-1 in the Absa Premiership league fixture at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday.
The battle to beat the relegation drop is intensifying with each passing fixture.
Amazulu FC, Baroka FC and Black Leopards suffered deadly defeats this past weekend. Separated by goal difference, they have secured merely 20 points after 23 games except for Leopards who saw off 22 matches.
Polokwane City (13th) and Chippa United (11th) won over the weekend to give themselves breathing space, at least for now. Cape Town City (12th) were not in action but they are also staring at relegation in the face.
In another Sunday fixture, Bloemfontein Celtic emerged victorious over Baroka FC by a 2-1 scoreline at Dr Molemela Stadium.
