Pretoria – The indomitable Mamelodi Sundowns were it again Saturday afternoon beating Wydad (WAC) Casablanca by 1-0 in the Champions League at Lucas “Masterpieces” Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The only goal of the premier cup of club football in Africa came through a penalty which Ricardo Nascimento (45+1′) converted comfortably before half-time. Until today, Brazilian national had been sidelined by injury.
In another Group C match played concurrently with the above, USM Alger were held to a 2-2 stalemate by the Angolan Petróleos de Luanda in Algeria. Neither of the two qualified for the quarterfinals because only the top two from a group progress.
Sundowns rounded off the group stages with 14 points while WAC ended on nine (9).
