Pirates imposing menacingly on Sundowns’ path to the top

Soweto will provide the tuff upon which Orlando Pirates will do battle with Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership match at Orlando Stadium Wednesday night Jan. 15 at 19h30.

In a must win encounter for Sundowns against Pirates tonight given the 9-point adrift between them and Kaizer Chiefs, a draw will make the gap too far to bridge, much less a loss.

Pitso Mosimane, Sundowns head coach, is quoted as having said that May is too far to settle the league champions. It is alleged that he said the league will be decided tonight.

The Brazilians are second on the log with 31 points. Pirates, under the guidance of a new German coach Josef “Joe” Zinnbauer, have no stake in the title race but will be eying to improve their 2019/20 league run and stay in the top eight (8).
