UnitedStellenbosch FC sneaked a late goal to draw level with host SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership at a nearly empty Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville last night.

Kudakwashe Mahachi’s 48th minute low drive outside the box gave Matsatsantsa a Pitori 1-0 lead few minutes into the second half of the league encounter. The Stellies equalized in the 61st minute through their reliable striker Waseem Isaacs.

Both teams were evenly matched The Saturday night game ended 1-1 in Pretoria. SuperSport coach Kaitano Tembo had little to say about the game itself except noting a lapse of concentration which enabled the opponents to earn a crucial point away from home.

Stellenbosch could have scored early on and ruled their chance in a game with limited opportunities. Coach Steve Barker supported this view in a post-match interview.

SuperSport United have move up to second on the log with 21 points only edging out Mamelodi Sundowns on goal difference.
