Not often do Lamontville Golden Arrows show up in the penultimate cup game at a competitive level. It is unheard but not strange. This time around, not only have they reached the Telkom Knockout (TKO) semi-finals, but are squaring up against one of the toughest sides in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Mamelodi Sundowns.

Today Arrows have a daunting task to plot how to bring down Sundowns at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in at 15:00. 

Golden Arrows shot the lights out when they defeated Sundowns 3-2 in the Absa Premiership league game at the same venue on Nov. 10 this season. Abafana Bes’thende will be hoping to summon the same spirit to give them a leap of faith against a supremely star-studded Pretoria juggernaut.

Meanwhile, Masandawana will guard against a back-to-back clobbering by the same outfit, needless to say at the same venue albeit under a different competition.

Comparatively, Arrows operate on a shoestring budget whereas Sundowns can go all out at any given time to sign top notch players with a blank cheque at their disposal. Thus, as far as quality goes, Masandawana have an upper hand on this TKO semi-final affair. Even so, Abafana Bes’thende will have the home ground to boost their chances as did a few days ago after whipping Sundowns in the league.

Equally, Sundowns will wish it does not rain again as they cited its disruption of their customary free-flowing carpet football they often flourish on. That said, only one team can go through and book its berth in the ultimate TKO final. And that will be decided after regulation time or through penalties.
