Both SACAA and NUMSA have clinched a bountiful agreement concerning salary increase that nearly brought SAA to its knees.

South African Airways Cabin Crew Association (SACAA) and National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) strong-armed South African Airways (SAA) to reach the highly sought-after (8%) deal.

The 8% proposed salary hike by the unions has been agreed upon by the state-owned airline facilited by Commission of Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) between the warring parties.

The solution comes after unions rejected the 5.3% rise SAA tabled which led to a protracted strike. A deadlock ensued as workers represented labour unions stoically clung to their demand. Furthermore, they had promised to bring SAA to a standstill if their request was not met.
